NIGHT VISION

You whose spirit comes in the night like sweet
Angel’s Breath, bring your hardiness common
to full sun—brighten, caress with complete
warmth and energy. Take great care—summon
that healing just as you salved deep war wounds
of Achilles’ soldiers, nature’s yarrow
nurturing all. Loved by butterflies, bound
to bees through spicy aroma, harrow
all evil as you repel each sand flea
and mosquito, offering your endless
answers to trials. You whose legend fancied
Homer, calm this frigid night my restless
core. Consume me in your confident fire—
invisible flame of the Muse’s lyre.
