I wish you were here with me sharing this
sunset: Jupiter, Venus, Mercury
falling like tracer bullets or comets
over still Alikes salt lake. Surely
my digital camera will capture
charred glow of dusk sky and water, bodies
gleaming like endless em dashes, their pure
light seeking to ignite Kos Island’s trees—
signal to fellow gods how passionate
love’s afire tonight, enflamed by human
beauty. Elnath now joins in, heaven’s gate
flung open to all seeking love, lumen
perceived by Earth’s every living creature
as dieties' power to grant our cure.
